Cheap flights I would not buy
BMI Baby is a budget airline that has flights within Europe. I have had various unhappy experiences with this airline and do not fly with them any more. My daughter was flying from Manchester to Cork one November evening. Cork airport is on a plateau about 7 miles from the city centre. There was low cloud and the airport was misty. As I was waiting for my daughter's flight all the flights were landing, Ryanair, Aer Lingus, Aer Arann, BA, Lufthansa, every single flight landed without any extraordinary delay. My daughter's BMI Baby flight did not land. 90 minutes later I was told that it had diverted to Kerry airport and that the passengers were being brought to Cork Airport by coach, a two hour drive at 2 in the morning. My daughter later told me that she had been scared when the pilot kept trying to land and zoomed up again at the last minute, THREE TIMES. I had various unhappy experiences at Manchester airport where BMI Baby flights always seemed to have last minute gate changes, but my final flight with this airline was from Cork to East Midlands Airport, near Nottingham, England. The flight was scheduled for 10.30 in the evening, late enough. Delay followed delay for 3 hours, without any satisfactory explanation or apology, before our flight left. My weekend in England was destroyed because I had planned an early start on the Saturday morning and had to change my plans because of the late arrival of my flight. I do not fly with this airline any more.
