Which Tyres are best for me?
Tyres are something that everyone replaces on their car, van or jeep. Not all tyres are the same. You can buy cheap tyres, like Firestone, but these usually have poor handling characteristics and will wear out in 15,000 miles or so. Many people find that Dunlop tyres have very poor wet grip. You should only consider these if you are just getting the car ready for its test or to sell it. You can buy tyres that will last for ever, Michelins spring to mind. These are great if you do a very high mileage, Michelin tyres can last for 50-60000 miles. If you only do 12000 miles a year or so save your money. All tyres deteriorate in sunlight and on exposure to pollutants like ozone in the air. The sidewalls become brittle and the tyre needs replacing, even though there is plenty of tread left on it. For most drivers Bridgestone tyres make sense. They will last for 30-40000 miles and have excellent grip in the wet. |
